Low Conductivity Steam Canister and O-Ring Replacement for Anden AS35 and AS35FP

The Anden Model AS80LC is a replacement steam canister and O-ring for Anden steam humidifiers Models AS35 and AS35FP. As water in the humidifier canister boils to produce steam, dissolved minerals remain in the water, increasing its electrical conductivity over time. This mineral concentration causes the water level in the canister to rise as conductivity increases.

The AS80LC is the low conductivity canister variant, optimized for water with a conductivity below 300 µS/cm or for installations running the steam humidifier at 120VAC. It is not suitable for use with softened water. The kit includes the replacement canister and one replacement O-ring (part #5258). When inserting the canister, dampen the O-ring with water only — do not use oil, grease, or any lubricant other than water.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Replacement for AS35 and AS35FP — Compatible with Anden steam humidifier models AS35 and AS35FP.
  • Low Conductivity Optimization — Designed for water conductivity below 300 µS/cm for optimal performance.
  • 120VAC Compatible — Also specified for use when the humidifier is installed at 120VAC.
  • Includes O-Ring — Kit includes the replacement canister and one new O-ring (part #5258).
  • Water-Only O-Ring Lubrication — O-ring must be dampened with water only before insertion — no oil or grease.
  • No Softened Water — Do not use the AS80LC with softened water; switch to the AS80 canister if drain frequency is excessive.

Who Should Use This Canister

The AS80LC is the correct replacement for AS35 and AS35FP installations where water conductivity is below 300 µS/cm or where the unit runs at 120VAC. If the humidifier drains too frequently, the water conductivity may be too high — in that case, switch to the standard AS80 canister, which is optimized for higher conductivity water.

How Electrode Steam Humidifiers Use Water Conductivity

Anden electrode steam humidifiers generate steam by passing electrical current between two electrodes submerged in water. Water with dissolved minerals conducts electricity — pure water does not. As steam is produced and water evaporates, minerals remain in the canister and concentration increases. When conductivity gets too high, the humidifier's control board triggers a drain cycle to flush the canister and refill with fresh water. Different canister models (AS80 vs. AS80LC) are optimized for different conductivity ranges to minimize drain frequency while maintaining safe operation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What humidifier models does the AS80LC fit?
The AS80LC is designed for Anden steam humidifier models AS35 and AS35FP.
What is the conductivity requirement for the AS80LC?
The AS80LC is optimized for water conductivity below 300 µS/cm. If conductivity is higher, use the standard AS80 canister.
Can the AS80LC be used with softened water?
No. The AS80LC should not be used with softened water.
What is included in the kit?
The kit includes one replacement steam canister and one new O-ring (part #5258).
How do I install the O-ring?
Dampen the O-ring with water only before inserting the canister into the drain assembly groove. Do not use oil, grease, or any other lubricant.
